A Life Full of Quarks

"Heartbreaking and hilarious" -- Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Two more reviews

Two more paid reviews have come in.

The first is from "Reader's favorites:"   "Each chapter offers hilarious, unexpected, and sometimes lamentable endings throughout his narrative.... C W Johnson's authentic interpretation of human experiences—fused with scientific explorations—frames a story that is wholly fascinating and thought-provoking. If you're a fan of .... novels that combine science fiction, dark humor, compelling characters, and eccentric human experiences, then add this book to your reading list today."

The review awarded 5/5 stars, but perusing the site shows that most reviews are 5/5.  A more careful reading revealed that Reader's Favorites promise to only post 4/5 or 5/5 reviews; if the review gave less than 4/5, then feedback was given privately to the author, but, presumably, no refund.  This is also part of a submission for the Reader's Favorites awards.

The second review is from IndieReader, also as part of a submission for an award. It's worth quoting at greater length:

"C.W. Johnson’s coming-of-age debut A LIFE FULL OF QUARKS offers a seamless blend of hard science, family drama, and satirical humor... Despite the never-ending string of quirky, oft-comedic anecdotes, the emotional threads are there from the beginning....While Johnson leans heavily on science throughout, A LIFE FULL OF QUARKS is a novel that ultimately defies categorization. For all the talk of particle accelerators, ethics, and neutrinos, the scientific concepts serve the story rather than overshadow it. If anything, Johnson’s sprawling saga feels more in line with a John Irving novel than your typical sci-fi bestseller. Key to this is his ability to keep some admittedly heady concepts accessible for readers, regardless of their pre-existing knowledge or interest...

"Featuring a highly original premise and refreshingly confident execution, C.W. Johnson’s A LIFE FULL OF QUARKS transcends genre conventions to deliver a debut novel that's as intellectually ambitious as it is emotionally resonant."

This garnered a score of 4.5/5.

Despite these positive reviews, sales have slowed to a near stop. I will have to try more advertising on Amazon.
